ChopinAsian Music Festival Announces Jury and Repertoire

【Aug 24, Warsaw】 On this 24th August 2023,Frederick Chopin University of Music (FCUM) announced the Jury and Repertoireof the Chopin Asian Music Festival. The Asian International Music Festival ofFrederic Chopin University of Music ”shorten as FCUM Asian Festival”, isorganized by FCUM and Chopin International Education Group, co-organized byChopin International Association and Chopin Asian Association, with Chopin(Hainan) Culture and Education Management Co.,Ltd. as executor. The finalcompetition of the festival will be held on March 20th 2024, Theregistration and competition process, as well as the location of the finals,will be gradually announced in the near future. Chairman of the committee of FCUM Asian Festival: prof.drhab. Klaudiusz Baran (President of FCUM), Executive Chairman of the festival: Dr.Pengfei Wang (President of Chopin International Education Group), Consultant ofthe festival: Monika Karpinska ( Consultant to the president of FCUM).

The music festival organizing committee has announcedthe panel of judges. The music festival judging panel consists of fiveprofessional committees, including piano, vocal, violin, cello, and accordion.The members of the judging panel are renowned expert professors from Poland,Austria, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Serbia, Estonia, the UnitedStates, and China. The Chief Judges/Chairs of each professional committee areas follows:

√ Chief Judge of the Accordion committee: Prof.Klaudiusz Baran (President of FCUM)

√ Chief Judge of the Vocal committee: Prof.Changyong Liao (President of Shanghai Conservatory of Music)

√ Chief Judge of the Piano committee: Prof.Joanna Ławrynowicz (Professor in FCUM)

The order of the songs performed is optional. The program must be executed from memory.

The jury evaluates the participants on a scale of 1 to 25 points.

The rules of the music festival were alsosimultaneously released on August 24th:

Regulation -"FCUMAsian Music Festival"

The aim of theFestival/Competition is to strengthen the relationship between the ChopinInternational Education Group and the Asian music community to enhance thelevel of artistic performance and promote the music of Polish and Europeancomposers. An essential aspect is the opportunity for participants andeducators to exchange experiences.

1. The First FCUM Asian Music Festival (hereinafterreferred to as the Competition) is organized by the Chopin InternationalEducation Group in collaboration with the Fryderyk Chopin University of Musicin Warsaw.

2. The Competition will take place every 2 years.

3. The first edition will feature the followingcompetition categories: piano, solo singing, violin, cello, and accordion.

4. Instrumental Competition participants will compete inthe following age categories: 12-15 years, 15-18 years, 19-30 years, and vocalcompetition participants will be aged 18-30.

5. The Competition will have either one or two stages,depending on the age group.

6. Eliminations (Participants will submit recordings ofup to 20 minutes). Theelimination program must include a piece by a European composer.

7. The Jury will qualify no more than 50 participants ineach category.

8. The Jury will consist of outstanding artists andeducators from around the world.

9. The decisions of the Jury are final, indisputable,and not subject to appeal.

10. Recordings along with the application must besubmitted to the mail box published by thecommittee.

11. The application should include a copy of thepassport/birth certificate, a brief biography, and proof of payment of theentry fee.

12. The entry fee must be paid to the specified account withthe candidate's name and age category (Candidates who are under 18 years old onthe date of application are required to attach consent from one of their legalguardians to participate in the Competition).

13. The division of financial prizes and concert prizeswill be determined by the competition jury.

14. Awarded and distinguished participants are obliged toparticipate in the ceremonial winners' concert. Failure to attend the winners'concert disqualifies the participant from receiving the prize.

15. Each participant qualified for the Competition willreceive a diploma of participation, place, or distinction.

16. The organizer has the right to distribute the video, picture, sound, andwords generated or collected during the festival.

17. The committee reserves the right of explaining and interpreting thisregulation.
